Finland: Healthy Nutrition: Calculating Calories 6th Grade


The sixth graders learnt how to calculate calories from their meals. At first they wrote down what they had for breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner and supper. After that they searched for a list of calories of different foods in the internet and calculated the amount of calories of each meal and then the total amount of calories of the day. After that they compared it to the recommendations of the amount of calories a 11- 14 year-old girl and boy should get during a day. We noticed that especially some girls didn't get enough calories!
